Board Appointments
Thank you for your interest in a Shelby County Delegation Board appointment. Appointments made by the Shelby County Delegation are set forth by legislation to the Alabama Code of Law. The Delegation currently has three Boards to which we make appointments: the Shelby County Judicial Commission (2 spots), the Shelby County Law Enforcement Personnel Board (2 spots), and the North Shelby Library Board (5 positions)
Appointments for these Boards are at different intervals so applications will be made available based on the terms of the appointments.
CLOSED APPOINTMENTS
North Shelby Library Board –
Thank you for your interest in serving on the North Shelby Library Board. Applications for this Board will be available beginning July 1, 2026, and must be submitted by July 15, 2026. All applications received by email must be submitted before 5:00p.m. on July 15, 2026. Applications that are mailed must be postmarked on or before July 15, 2026.
Along with the application, additional pages may be included for further relevant information and to allow individuals to explain why they are interested in serving on this Board.
The Board is composed of five individuals who live in the North Shelby Library district. In accordance with Legislative Act #2024-122, to be considered for a Board position an individual must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a registered voter
- Must reside within the boundaries of the district
In addition to these requirements, law mandates that “One member of the board shall be an owner of a commercial property in the district.” The application has a space to indicate whether or not an applicant meets this specific requirement.
The North Shelby Library Board will be selected by the members of the Shelby County Legislative Delegation representing the geographic area of the library district or any portion thereof. Members will be selected from the applications received by the date set forth. Each appointment will be made pursuant to the Legislative Act #2024-122’s requirements.
The appointments to this Board will begin January 1, 2027, and will expire on December 31, 2030. North Shelby Library Board appointment terms are four-year terms, unless amended by state law. If any appointee is unable to complete their service, a replacement will be chosen to complete the unexpired term of that position.
