The City of Alabaster voted unanimously Monday night to support the project with $1.75 million. That is the amount Shelby County requested from the city last week.
“We felt an opportunity to assist our county. The county is taking the lead on this project going in front of the state…and we felt like this was really important to our residents and our community,” said Alabaster City Administrator Brian Binzer.
There was a public hearing after the vote, but no one addressed city council members about the project.
The Shelby County Commission unanimously passed a $20 million resolution Monday night with $14.5 million to fund the project.
Shelby County leaders are still waiting to hear back from the City of Pelham and City of Calera about their final thoughts on the proposal.
