Helena Police Chief Retires

Police Chief Pete Folmar retired from the department on November 1. He started his
police career in 1994 with the Anniston Police Department, before working for the Pelham
Police Department for 19 years starting in 1996. He became Helena’s police chief in 2015.

During his time as chief, Folmar has seen improvements in officer numbers, technology,
and many other aspects of the department. The Helena, Alabama Police Department’s Facebook
post announcing his retirement called him “the truest definition of a public servant [that] lived
every day for the department and the city.”

The Shelby County Legislative Delegation would like to congratulate Chief Folmar on
his retirement. We would like to thank him for his years of service and wish him well on his
future endeavors.
