Shelby County Legislative Delegation Office

Legislative Wrap Up Luncheon 2021

By: Amy Young

On May 26, five members from the delegation joined us for the 2021 Legislative Wrap Up. Dan Roberts, Arnold Mooney, Jabo Waggoner, Jim Carns, and Jim McClendon were able to speak to community leaders and local officials about this legislative session. They brought up the failed lottery and gaming bill, the passed ban on vaccine passports, and the medical marijuana bill that was passed. The legislators were able to talk about their high points and what they felt was important during this year’s session, as well as what they’re working toward for next year. Senator McClendon wrapped up the luncheon by talking about this year’s redistricting based on the full census results. He brought up Shelby County’s 14% growth since the last census and the way he thinks the redistricting process will go in an expected special session to address redistricting once the Census Bureau provides them with our state’s data.
