Senator April Weaver and Representative Corley Ellis met with CAWACO Resource, Conservation, and Development to announce the winners of the 2021 project grants for Shelby County. CAWACO (named for the Cahaba, Warrior, and Coosa Rivers it represents) is an organization that helps give grants to non-profit groups that would not likely receive funding from larger sources. The recipients were: Shelby County Historical Society, University of Montevallo Foundation, Shelby County Arts Council, Shelby County FFA & HOPE, Shelby County Board of Education and Shelby County Emergency Assistance. The presentation was held at Shelby Iron Works Park.
